Despite modest increases in research and development expenditures at universities and colleges in Michigan, the state dropped from 10th in 2005 to 11th in 2006, and retained that rank in 2007.
In the 2006 fiscal year, Michigan placed 4th on state agency expenditures for R&D. By the 2007 fiscal year, the state’s ranked dropped to 11th, with total agency expenditures totaling less than half the previous year’s value.
